Template Designer Manual

Introduction

Our Template Designer is currently optimized for the Mozilla Firefox browser. This is very widespread browser and can be downloaded for free from mozilla.org. Please use this browser to customize your template until we can fully ensure compatibility with other browsers. Although customization is possible with other browsers, additional steps may be needed to achieve the same result as in Mozilla Firefox.

UNDOING CHANGES: If you want to undo a change, you can use the shortcut “Ctrl + Z” (PC) or “Cmd + Z” (Mac). In addition, there are two buttons the toolbar next to the formatting tool, that you can use for undoing and redoing changes as well.

Overview

Loading your template

After your purchase, you have downloaded a .zip file. Please unpack this .zip archive onto your computer. Then go to our Template Designer and click on the button “Import your template into the Template Designer”.

In the dialog box that appears, select the downloaded .html or .txt version of the template and click on “Open”.

Importing your template from an existing listing

If you want to edit one of your existing eBay listings, or need a template for a new product, then it may be useful to download the template directly from one of your existing eBay listings. Click on the “Import your template from eBay” button and enter the corresponding eBay listing number in the menu.

Saving your template

To save the template, please use the button “Save your template on your computer”.

You then have the option to “copy & paste html code” or save it via “download .txt-file”. We recommend saving the template regularly as a file to have a backup.

Changing the color of your template

You can choose the color of your template via the color picker tool. This is located leftmost in the toolbar. It supports both a point-and-click selection with stepless color navigation as well as the input of a hex color code.

Inserting your logo

Note:  If you do not need some image placeholders, just leave them at first. The template recognizes, whether you have put in images or left the placeholders and will hide the remaining placeholders when you upload the template on eBay.

You can insert your logo by clicking on the corresponding placeholders in the template. Then click on “Insert or change image” in the toolbar above the design window and enter the URL (the link) to your logo.

Note:  The Template Designer is optimized for the Mozilla Firefox browser, which we strongly recommend using. If you do not use the Mozilla Firefox you have to move the mouse while holding down the mouse button and clicking on the pictures, so that the picture is marked. The image is correctly selected as soon as it turns blue.

Linking the navigation menu and buttons

Linking of the navigation elements (ratings, profile, newsletter, etc.) and buttons is automated. All you need to do is insert your account name and the link to your eBay Store in the “Account Settings” tab in the “Template Configuration” menu (gear icon in the toolbar).

Note:  If you do not need some image placeholders, just leave them at first. The template recognizes, whether you have put in images or left the placeholders and will hide the remaining placeholders when you upload the template on eBay.

You can automatically import the gallery images from existing eBay listings into the template. To do this, click on the double-arrow symbol and enter the corresponding eBay offer number in the menu.

Choosing gallery images manually

If you would like to manually select the gallery images, then use the “Template Configuration” menu with the gear icon in the toolbar. In the menu that opens, you can set up the gallery in the “Gallery” tab.

Now you can mark the article picture and click on “Insert link” in the toolbar above the design editor to enter the URL (link) to the desired product.

If you want to specify a price, please mark and link it individually as well.

Transferring your template to your ebay listings

When you are finished editing the auction template, please save the template using the button “Save your template on your computer”.

You then have the option to “copy & paste html code” or save it via “download .txt-file”. We recommend saving the template regularly as a file to have a backup.

You now need the source code. Depending on the save type you chose, you will receive it as follows:

  2. If you chose“download .txt-file”: Find and open the downloaded .txt file, select the entire text content and then click Edit -> Copy. Alternatively, you can also highlight the text content with Ctrl + A (Cmd + A on Mac) and cached with Ctrl + C (Cmd + C on Mac).

Then go to your eBay listing and scroll to the area where you usually enter the item description. You will notice that there is a tab labeled “HTML” at the top of the editor window. Please click on it and copy the text content / source code into the ebay editorby using copy & paste (the key combination Ctrl + V (for Windows PC) or CMD + V (for Mac)), then save the listing.

Congratulations, you are done! Your auction template has now been transferred to eBay and you can proceed as usual with the setup of the item.
